A Brisbane footpath hoarding pays a different fee in each zone. Which?
By Artigellence ·
Scaffold, hoarding or a gantry on a Brisbane footpath needs Brisbane City Council approval and a permit, and the application fee is A$369 in Zone A or B and A$184 in Zone C. The spalling page covers each step, and the Concrete cancer repair costs and rules check lists the fees with their sources.

What the Council says
Brisbane City Council's page on footpath works says you need approval to begin works on a public footpath, and in some situations a permit as well. Setting up hoarding and a gantry is on the list of works that need one.
The Council says to allow 20 days for an outcome on an approval or permit request. Outside the CBD and off a state-controlled main road, materials on a footway for less than 48 hours need no approval, and the page says inside the CBD there is no such allowance.
What the fees are
The Council's Schedule of Fees and Charges for 2026-27 sets an application fee of A$369 for Zone A and B and A$184 for Zone C. If the application succeeds, the permit itself is charged per square metre of space used, per week: A$11.50 in Zone A, A$5.45 in Zone B and A$3.20 in Zone C, with a minimum five-week charge on each permit.
What the zone means
The CBD is the PC1 principal centre zone, and the Council's own page ties that zone to fee Zone A. The zone for any other address depends on the City Plan zone of the property, which this site could not read for suburbs outside the CBD, so ask the Council or the provider which zone applies to your building.
What to ask the provider
Ask whether the permit, its fee and the five-week minimum are in the quote, and who lodges the application. A repair that cannot start until a permit issues is a repair whose start date is the Council's, not the provider's.
What could change
Fees are set in a schedule for each financial year, and this one is for 2026-27. Read the Council's current page before you rely on any figure here.
